TWO Dungannon men are preparing to undertake a mammoth challenge by cycling 15,000km from Ireland to Australia, crossing 18 countries along the way!
Paul Quinn and Aidan Murphy, will depart on their gruelling journey on September 1, and hope to arrive in Australia seven months later.
Paul, a keen cyclist who rides with the Island Wheelers, told the Tyrone Times the pair have chosen the challenge to raise money for two charities, the Irish Cancer Society, and The Alzheimer’s Society.
The men are keen to emphasise that all donations will be split evenly between both charities, and none of the money will go towards the cost of the trip.
Paul and Aidan, who have set a target of 20,000 Euros, have organised a fundraising 60-mile cycling event to take place from Hayden’s Bar, Rock, this Sunday, August 19.
Anyone interested in taking part can choose between a 60-mile or 30-mile trek, or, alternatively, participate in a five-mile run/walk.
You can find out more information about the Rock event, as well as how to donate to Paul and Aidan’s fundraising total, by visiting their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/cycletooz or log on to www.mycharity.ie/event/cycle-to-oz
