Five accused of stealing gas cylinders

FOUR men from the Travelling community in Dublin have appeared before Dungannon Magistrates Court accused of stealing from a local supermarket.

Forty-eight year-old Owen McDonagh, and 41 year-old Thomas McDonagh, both from Bell Camp in Coolig; appeared in court alongside Owen McDonagh, 24, from Bellshelly Park in Finglass, and 18 year-old Johnny McDonagh, from St Margaret’s Park in Ballymun.

A youth, who cannot be named, also appeared with the four other defendants.

All five are accused of stealing gas cylinders to the value of £180 from the Spar store in Aughnacloy on August 9.

The five defendants are also charged with going equipped for theft on the same date.

A police officer told the court he believed he could connect each of the defendants to the charges against them.

The defendants were remanded on bail, with a surety of 400 Euros each, to appear before the court again on October 17.
