Granville street-lighting extension will make huge difference

DUP MLA Maurice Morrow has welcomed Roads Service’s decision to extend street lighting at Granville .

He said: “Following representation made to my office about difficulties motorists were experiencing in identifying the access road unto the A4 Dual Carriageway, particularly traffic travelling from the Aughnacloy direction on winter nights, I took this matter up with Roads Service.

“I have just received confirmation that street lighting will be provided at this junction in the present financial year 2013/14.

“This is good news and will be welcomed by all those who regularly use this road. The new scheme will join up the existing street lighting at Granville Industrial Site with the street lighting provided on the Aughnacloy road, when the new A4 dual carriageway was being constructed.

“The missing 400 metres of street lighting will be provided in the proposed new scheme. I would like to thank the constitiuents who brought this to my attention and indeed I went on to examine the situation thoroughy and totally agreed with their assertions.”

The local MLA stated: “The new A4 is undoubtedly a great asset to the West of our Province but since its construction I have continually lobbied to have it made as safe as possible, in particular its access and exit roads.

“I look forward to this important Street Lighting scheme being completed before next winter as it will greatly enhance the safety of all road users.”
