Jail for driving while disqulified and without insurance

A DUNGANNON man has been sentenced to three months in prison for driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

Ailonas Gerulis, 27, of Redford Park, Dungannon was charged with the driving offences following an incident on 22nd July 2012 on Newell Road in Dungannon.

District Judge John Meehan told Gerulis, ‘you knew fine well you were disqualified and you had it explained to you that you had been given a suspended sentence.’

Judge Meehan sentenced Gerulis to three months in prison for driving without insurance and disqualified him from driving for two years when he will be required to sit the appropriate test.

For driving while disqualified, Meehan sentenced Gerulis to three months in prison, and disqualified him from driving for two years when he will be required to sit the appropriate test, to run concurrently to the first charge. He was also ordered to pay an offenders levy of £25 and forfeiture of the vehicle namely a Honda Accord.
