MUSICIANS, readers and congregation members from two local Church of Ireland churches, St Michael & All Angels’, Castlecaulfield, and St Patrick’s, Donaghmore, will be travelling to Dublin on Mothering Sunday, March 10, to lead the broadcast worship on RTE 1 television.

They will take part in a Eucharist for Mothering Sunday, at which the celebrant and preacher will be their rector, the Revd Dr Peter Thompson.

The broadcast will be live on RTE 1 television at 11am, and will be broadcast simultaneously on RTE Radio 1 Longwave (LW 252), and on the website www.rte.ie

It will also be available to watch again on RTE Player for several weeks following the broadcast. Commenting on the plans so far, Dr Thompson said: “It is both an honour and a privilege to be amongst a very small group of parishes selected each year from across the length and breadth of the Church of Ireland to lead a televised act of worship.

“As a parish we are excited and enthusiastic about this, and have been preparing and planning for some weeks now.

“We hope that you can join us in worship, either live on the morning via television or radio, or in the following weeks through the internet.”
