Local man’s bright idea takes wheels
AN enterprising local metalworker from Madden has lent his skills and support to the local SEAT ‘Bury the Pylons’ campaign by coming up with a very bright idea!
SEAT (Safe Electricity for Armagh and Tyrone) was set up 5 years ago and still continues its battle to have the proposed Meath to Moy Interconnector undergrounded.
When Dinny Morgan from Madden Metals learned that 70 year old local businessman, John Woods was undertaking a 70 mile walk at the end of September in support of SEAT, he decided to make a mini promotional pylon for him! Dinny’s mission was to produce a campaign awareness tool with a difference for John …and his creation has already sent waves of curiousity radiating around the country!
Dinny says; “Locals are very perplexed when they spot the mini pull-along pylon which is 14ft tall, has wheels and even a flashing orange light on top! But then they read the SEAT campaign messages on the side and everything becomes clear! We’ve had it out and about on the road quite a bit recently and it’s been fantastic for campaign photoshoots and events. It will even accompany John on his seventy mile route and it is the perfect way to explain what John’s walk is all about. It’s the latest local talking point right now and that’s exactly what we want!”
John Woods, who is also a founder of SEAT, said; “It really was a bright spark of an idea, it looks fantastic and has been such a useful promotional tool. It will be used for the SEAT campaign well beyond the walk and we thank Dinny for his creative genius! If you spot the mini pylon, show your support and toot your horn or send us a picture from your mobile to 07725954743 or share it on our facebook page www.facebook.com/SeatActionGroup.”
Dinny’s creation can be seen out and about from 27-30 September as John Woods makes his way along the proposed 70 mile Interconnector route from County Meath via County Armagh, finishing at the Square in Moy, Country Tyrone.
