‘Luckless’ Moy man bags almost €30,000 on lottery gameshow

MOY man Sam Clarke was celebrating at the weekend after walking away with €28,200 on last Saturday’s National Lottery Winning Streak Gameshow on RTE.

Sam, whose family run the homemade jam business Country Preserves, won the tidy sum after buying the winning ticket from the Post office in Bailleborough Co Cavan.

Sam, who works in sales and also delivers stock for the family business, has four brothers. His parents are Ken and Jane.

Sam said he is often down south delivering preserves and regularly buys scratch cards.

The Manchester Utd fan has never won anything before and doesn’t think he’s very lucky, and definitely does not have any lucky charms.

After the show, he said he would love to revisit America – he has been there twice before but there is so much more that he wishes to see.

The biggest winner on the night was Colm Murray on behalf of his grandmother Margaret Murray from Longford who won prizes to the value of €77,200.

Winning Streak Scratch Cards offer players the chance to win instant prizes of up to €100,000.

Five players are selected each week to appear on the Winning Streak TV Gameshow and one lucky player has the chance to win up to €500,000 instantly on the Grand Prize Wheel.

The gameshow features all the favourite games from last season including Cash Cubes; Dare to Share and Wheel Reveal. Whenever there is no winner of €250,000 or above on the Grand Prize Wheel, the following week the lowest segment on the wheel will be replaced with an additional €250,000 segment.

The Winning Streak TV Gameshow is based solely on chance and there is no skill involved. To enter, players must submit a 3-star ticket in one of the special 3-star envelopes, which are available from all National Lottery Retail Sales Agents. Each Thursday in National Lottery offices, one hundred 3-star entries are drawn randomly in a preliminary draw that takes place under strict security controls. From these 100 entries, the five players for the following show are drawn and their names are featured on the gameshow.
