Man accused of assaulting detention officer

A MAN has been in court on three charges of assault relating to a detention officer.

Stewart Hillis (30), of Farm Lodge Avenue, Ballymena, also faces charges of causing criminal damage to a police custody cell and disorderly behaviour at Queen Street, Magherafelt, on September 16.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the charges were drink-related and Hillis was currently the subject of a probation order.

District Judge Des Perry adjourned the case at Magherafelt Magistrates Court until January 23 for a probabtion report.
