Man drove
girlfriend’s car uninsured

A COOKSTOWN man has been fined £300 and had his licence endorsed with penalty points at Dungannon Courthouse.

Sean Hughes, 30, of Ferguy Heights, appeared on a charge of driving without insurance.

Hughes was detected driving a Reneault Megane car at Old Town Street, Cookstown, on September 23rd last year.

A defence solicitor told the court that his client was under the mistaken belief that he was insured to drive his girlfriend’s car.

Hughes, the court was told, was the named driver on a policy held by his mother.

District Judge John Meehan fined Hughes £300 for the offence and gave him seven penalty points. He was also required to pay the offenders’ levy of £15.
