‘No end to unwarranted attacks on Councillor Brush’ Morrow

AN ATTACK on the car of a Dungannon Councillor has been roundly condemned by local representatives.
DUP representative Sammy Brush had his vehicle damaged in the attack which took place last weekend.
DUP peer Maurice Morrow branded the criminal damage as ‘reprehensible and deplorable’.
“It appears there is no end to the unwarranted and disagraceful attacks Cllr Brush”, he said.
“It would be difficult to find anyone in Northern Ireland who has had to endure more personal and property attacks that Sammy Brush. These repeated sectarian attacks demonstrate the lengths to which some will go to attempt to drive Cllr Brush from his home. It is long overdue that someone should be apprehended for this scurrilous behaviour.”
Sinn Fein Mayor Phelim Gildernew said the attack should be condemned outright, adding that he hoped there would be no further attacks.
The vandalism was also condemned by DUP councillor Frances Burton and UUP councillor Walter Cuddy who offered his support to Mr Brush.
“Councillor Brush has done a lot of work for the Clogher Valley community, and should be supported in every way possible to get normality”, he said,
SDLP Councillor Anthony McGonnell pointed out that the attacks were ongoing and must be condemned.
Councillor Brush said he was disappointed as he thought such incidents had come to an end. “However, it would appear that this is not the case”, he said.
He expressed hope that there would be a follow-up to the PSNI investigation. “If someone was identified it would take a lot of suspicion away from other people”, he said.
He also thanked councillors for their support.
