Police officers held for alleged misconduct
THE PSNI has arrested two of its officers based in Cookstown, over allegations of misconduct.
In a statement released on Saturday afternoon, police said the pair had been released on bail.
“Following a proactive investigation by the PSNI’s Service Improvement Department into alleged serious misconduct within a small team of officers based in Cookstown, two officers have been arrested and released on bail,” said the Assistant Chief Constable George Hamilton.
“They have also been suspended from duty.
“A further five officers have been repositioned within the Service as part of this investigation which is currently ongoing.
“Our priority will remain the delivery of a high quality personal, professional and protective police service for the community of Cookstown and the wider community of Northern Ireland.
“The Police Service expects its staff to behave professionally, ethically and with the utmost integrity at all times.”
ACC Hamilton said any breach of their Code of Ethics may result in a criminal or disciplinary investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman or the Police Service.
