Pre-school policy changes welcomed
SINN Féin MLA Bronwyn McGahan has welcomed the proposals by Education Minister John O’Dowd to improve pre-school education.
Ms McGahan said: “Pre school education is an important part of a child’s development so it is important that we put in place mechanisms that allows every child the opportunity to attend a school if their parents so choose.
“The Framework for Education and Learning in the Early Years strategy will help achieve the overall objective of having a place for every child but will also develop teaching methods that will improve the way we educate our youngest children.
“I would commend the Minister and his Department for the work that has been carried out since 2010 in order to improve the way we teach our children in pre school environment.
“I would call on everyone who has an interest to work within the consultation period to make sure that this strategy can be implemented in the shortest time available.”
