Robinson and Nesbitt re-emphasise Lutton support

DUP Leader Peter Robinson and UUP Leader Mr Mike Nesbitt MLA have re-emphasised their support to agreed unionist candidate Mr Nigel Lutton for next week’s Mid-Ulster Parliamentary election.

The unionist leaders released a joint statement this week.

Mr Robinson said: “Nigel is a terrific candidate with a great local knowledge and a heart for the community.

“This election gives the people of Mid-Ulster the opportunity to have representation in the House of Commons. For sixteen years they have had an absentee MP.

Mr Robinson said that while important decisions have been made in Parliament, the people of Mid-Ulster “have not had a say”. “This election gives them the opportunity to change this situation,” he added.

“I wish Nigel every success in the campaign. It has been great to hear about the level of support he has been receiving from right across the community since his selection was announced.”

Ulster Unionist Party Leader Mr Mike Nesbitt MLA added: “I would ask all the people of Mid-Ulster to come out and vote for Nigel Lutton on 7th March. For too long the constituency has been bereft of full representation at Westminster.

“If elected, Nigel Lutton will be a full-time dedicated MP, representing all of the people, playing a full role in everyday business.

The Ulster Unionist said Mr Lutton had a “proven track record in serving people from all sections of our community”.

“I have developed huge respect for Nigel Lutton in recent years, observing and assisting him in his unpaid role as an advocate for victims of the Troubles, helping them move forward positively as he will for the people of Mid-Ulster, if you give him that opportunity on 7th March.”
