Thought wife’s insurance covered him

A DUNGANNON man has been fined and had penalty points endorsed on his licence for driving without insurance.

Petras Leknius, 45, of Altmore View, Dungannon pleaded guilty to driving without insurance relating to an incident on 13th November 2012 on the Gortnagola Road, Donaghmore.

A defence solicitor for Leknius said that his client had borrowed a friends car for three weeks while his own family vehicle was being repaired. He also thought that his wife’s insurance policy would have covered him for the vehicle a court herard,

District Judge John Meehan imposed a fine of £200 and endorsed his licence with six penalty points. He was also ordered to pay a further £15 offenders levy.
