Two road fatalities in Tyrone in less than 24 hours

TWO men have been killed in separate road accidents miles apart in County Tyrone.

71 year-old Robin Steenson from the Cookstown area died after the motorcycle he was travelling on crashed on the M1 close to Dungannon on Sunday afternoon. It happened on the country-bound lane between the Birches and Tamnamore, at 5.15pm.

On Monday a 39-year-old man died following a traffic collision on the Ballynakilly Road, Coalisland, just a few miles away from where Mr Steenson was killed the previous afternoon.

It happened shortly after 9.30am when two lorries collided. The driver of the second lorry has been taken to Craigavon Area Hospital. His condition is not yet known. Police have appealed for anyone with information about either of the crashes to contact them.

The Ballynakilly Road remains closed and police in Dungannon want to hear from anyone who saw the lorries before or at the time of the collision. The number to call is 0845 600 8000.
