A COOKSTOWN tyre centre has been recognised by the world’s leading tyre manufacturer by receiving certified status for its standard of service.

Tyre Safety Centre, owned and managed by local man Alistair Simpson, picked up the Michelin Certified Centre status at a special seminar in Dublin recently.

The Cookstown Road business, set up in 1971 by Alistair’s late father Cecil, had to pass stringent, independent audit of its operations which assessed the quality of its workshop and buildings, levels of customer service and personnel requirements including training and skill levels.

Alistair’s son Mark officially picked up the title for his father’s business at the event in Malahide, hosted by Michelin UK and Ireland Commercial Director, Malcolm Scovell.

Speaking at the seminar, Mark said: “This Michelin Certification will bring our business significant benefit. Having completed major improvements to our premises last year, this achievement is an extra bonus that will help us to attract new customers.”

Becoming a Michelin Certified Centre recognises the achievement of Tyre Safety Centre in providing the very best levels of service, professionalism and expertise that is approved by Michelin’s Europe-wide accreditation scheme.

In total, 11 retailers met the required standard for accreditation – three from Northern Ireland and eight from the Republic of Ireland – totalling 13 individual retail outlets. Other Northern Ireland recipients were Carryduff Tyres and A-One Tyres, Dromore.
