Work to begin at public toilets

REFURBISHMENTS and relocations have been announced following a study of Council owned public conveniences throughout the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough.

Details of the work to be carried out at a number of locations were revealed during a recent sub-committee meeting.

Councillors heard that there are plans to relocate Clogher public toilets to a former school building purchased by the council, while alternative provision for Aughnacloy is being investigated.

Approval was also granted for the refurbishment of Scotch Street toilets in Dungannon, which will take place following the opening of the new Ranfurly Arts and Visitor Centre in the town.

Furthermore, members were told the council plans to monitor the usage of the automatic public convenience at Market Square via coins received.

This will be done following the opening of the new Ranfurly Centre and, if the number of users is minimum, the council will consider whether it should be removed or relocated.
