The site at Loughry College would be the perfect location for the new super-council, Mid Ulster MP Francie Molloy has said.
According to Mr Molloy the new Chief Executive of the super council Anthony Tohill has already made enquiries about the availability of facilities at the college.
The revelation comes just days after the police and fire training college at Desertcreat suffered yet another massive setback, with the £150m project set to be re-specified and re-tendered.
However, the Sinn Fein MP says he remains confident the college will be built, albeit on a smaller scale, and together with a super council base at Loughry College could make the region a leading hub for government services.
He said: “Loughry, particularly with the Desertcreat development, could be used to build the infrastructure which would allow the new council offices to be central to it, and attract other parts of government into it.
“Michelle O’Neill has already talked about the transfer of the Rivers Agency to Loughry.”
