A man was taken to hospital after being beaten with a baseball bat and a hammer in Dungannon in the early hours of Sunday morning [Sept 6].

The aggravated burglary happened in the Tullyaran Road area of the town.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Shortly after 1.30am it was reported that a number of masked men forced their way into a house in the area and assaulted the 36 year old male occupant with a baseball bat and a hammer.

“The man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries to his arms, legs and back that are not believed to be life threatening.”

Detective Inspector Will Tate is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact detectives in Dungannon Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
