A man caught doing 104mph near Ballygawley has been banned from the road for two months.

When prompted by the judge, a solicitor for Michael Clyde, 23, from Fort View in Ballymoney, admitted that the manoeuvre had saved him mere seconds.

He was clocked just before 9pm on January 5 at Annaghilla Road.

“He presents with three points for excess speed,” the solicitor said. “His speed on the day in question was utterly unacceptable.”

In addition to the driving ban, District Judge John Meehan also handed down a fine of £300.
