People with health conditions such as high blood pressure, arthritis and diabetes, have been given a fantastic opportunity to improve their fitness and wellbeing in a partnership between Dungannon Leisure Centre and the Public Health Agency.

The Physical Activity Referral Programme (PARP) has already proven very successful with men and women of all ages learning the importance of exercise to a healthy mind and body.

The TIMES spoke to Instructor Don Taaffe at the town’s Leisure Centre.

Don explained those interested in the scheme need to be referred by their GP and have access to a wide range of activities including the gym, swimming, and a number of exercise classes, all of which are tailored to their individual needs and designed to fit around their lifestyles.

Conditions such as being overweight, suffering from mental ill health, low back pain, stroke or brain injury and asthma, plus others, are included in the scheme. Call the Leisure Centre on 87720370 or your GP for more information.
