A new 30mph speed limit for Brocagh will be in place by the end of the year, according to SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn.
The Torrent representative said the restriction will improve safety for road users in the vicinity of the local church, nursery school and housing developments.
“This is a great result for the people of Brocagh who have been asking for a reduction in the speed limit for a long time and I’m delighted we have finally got it”, he added.
“The SDLP have met with residents, PSNI and Transport NI about the matter over recent months and we had expressed concern about the threat that speeding cars posed to those living in the area.”
Concluding, Cllr Quinn said: ““I hope that drivers will take heed of these new speed limits when they are installed later this year.”
