Dungannon’s recreation sites are to be linked for the first time by a pathway.

In recent weeks, work to clear land at the bottom of Quarry Lane has created much discussion, with locals suggesting contractors were working on a so-called ‘peace path’.

However, Mid Ulster Council said the route will link sites including Drumcoo, Railway Park, Windmill Wood and Dungannon Park.

It forms part of a wider £7M project, funded through the European Peace III Shared Spaces Programme, which includes the creation of viewing tower and event space at Hill of the O’Neill, and a new community centre under construction in Railway Park - the venue for Rail Fest, a free outdoor concert on Saturday 22 August which is part of a series of celebrations to mark the end of the investment project.
