Ten out of ten goes to local business owners in Dungannon with confirmation that a campaign launched ten weeks ago to create ten jobs has hit its target.
The initiative called simply “TEN”, came to a climax at the “The Celebration of TEN” in Dungannon Business Cube. The Objective of the pilot initiative, led by Dungannon Enterprise Centre, was to recruit 10 businesses within the Council area that were willing to create 10 new jobs in 10 weeks. With the support of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, and some local professionals, the goal was realised and plans are now being made to roll it out to other areas.
Speaking, Brian MacAuley from Dungannon Enterprise Centre said, that 10 local businesses pledged in week 1 to create a new job each in 10 weeks time.
Although modest, the ten jobs’ strategy he set up won’t have had much effect on the recent figures of 45,500 unemployed in the province, but if replicated throughout all the Council areas it would gather momentum.
“Our objective was to identify business owners and convince them to pledge that they would create a new job in 10 weeks.
“In return, we offered them a programme of support through networking, mentoring and workshops which in turn provided them with the confidence to recruit.
