Transport Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £90,000 major resurfacing scheme on Stewartstown Road, Coalisland.
The work is due to begin this week between the mini roundabout at the junction with Annagher Road and extend to the junction with the Brambles housing estate.
The Minister said: “This scheme will result in an improved running surface and less surface defects for road users.”
To help minimise inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses the majority of this work will be completed without a road closure.
The road will be closed between 8am and 7pm on 21st and 22nd February to allow final surfacing.
During the road closure traffic will be diverted via Washingbay Road, Moor Road and Stewartstown Road.
UUP MLA for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend welcomed the resurfacing: “News of a major road resurfacing scheme taking place on the Stewartstown Road, Coalisland, due to begin this week is indeed very welcome news for my constituents travelling through Coalisland. This is fantastic news for the area, and the level of investment, some £90,000, shows the Minister’s commitment to improving the roads in Mid-Ulster.”
