POLICE officers from Dungannon recently visited the location of an incident of ‘badger digging’ on private farmland.
According to a PSNI spokesperson, “This is a highly illegal activity. Both interfering with badger setts and hunting for badgers are criminal offences.
“Badgers are protected at all times. There is no ‘open season’ to hunt them at any time, or by any means.
“We request that members of the public, especially farmers and those involved in legitimate forms of hunting or wildlife conservationists, remain vigilant and report incidents of suspicious behaviour to Police.”
