A DUNGANNON teen who led police on a chase through Moygashel, before falling from the motorcycle he was riding, was later found to be over the legal drink drive limit.

Mark McKinney, 19, from Riverdale, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, as well as charges of not displaying ‘L’ plates and failing to stop for police.

Dungannon Magistrates Court was told that a police patrol observed McKinney shortly after midnight on January 11 and, despite being signalled to stop, McKinney sped off from the officers.

McKinney then travelled through Moygashel village, into an industrial estate, where he fell from the motorcycle after attempting to go through a gap in a hedge.

A sample of breath provided by McKinney showed his alcohol level to be 42mg, 7mg in excess of the legal limit. A community service order for 100 hours and a fine of £90 were imposed.
