A Dungannon woman has been fined £315 and given a 12 month driving ban for driving with excess alcohol in breath.

Mary Hamill, 58, of Ballysaggart Park pleaded guilty to the offence in relation to an incident in William Street Dungannon on July 15. A court heard how police were called to the scene of a road traffic accident in the town following a report that the defendant who was driving a silver Renault had rolled back into another car at traffic lights. Police later called at the home of the defendant and noticed she was unsteady on her feet and smelt of intoxicating liquor. She admitted she had been driving but refused to provide a sample initially. She informed police she had driven to LIDL after the incident to buy a bottle of wine and consumed it when she got home to calm her nerves. Police said this was unlikely due to the short time frame between the accident and speaking to her.
