Dungannon developer set to revolutionise Belfast skyline with glass-box apartments

THE green light has been given to a ‘ground-breaking’ apartment complex in Belfast that is the brain-child of a Dungannon property expert.

Planning permission has been granted to property developer The Richland Group, whose chief executive is Dungannon born Gary McCausland, for Regent’s Gate, a nine storey building on the Dublin Road which will be home to 58 stylish one and two bedroom apartments and two cafés on the ground floor.

The apartments are designed to maximise the daylight potential with floor to ceiling height windows, the full width of each apartment, and airy open-plan living, dining and kitchen spaces. Each window will have the ability to slide open to reveal a glass ‘Juliet’ type balcony.

According to an independent report carried out by Cogent Management Consulting, the Regent’s Gate project will initially inject over £4.4 million into the economy via the construction phase with a further £266,000 per annum from the commercial activities.

The construction of the new development, which is expected to begin in January 2015 and finish in Summer 2016, will initially provide up to 200 construction jobs.

“The Dublin Road scheme is a ground-breaking project for Belfast, based on a Tokyo / London concept that provides high quality, affordable, contemporary accommodation in strong and up and coming locations,” said McCausland.

“As one of the first major privately funded construction projects in the city since the recession, it signals that Belfast is once again open for business and will see the regeneration of a rundown part of the Dublin Road with an iconic building providing quality accommodation and commercial space for people to live in, work in and enjoy.

“This scheme adds huge value to the Dublin Road and indeed Belfast as a whole. It’s a win win scenario,” he added.

McCausland has always harboured a strong desire to bring his expertise and experience in the global residential and commercial property market back home and the Regent’s Gate development will represent his company’s first major footprint in Northern Ireland.
