A DUNGANNON man who attacked his brother’s van with a shovel following a row between the pair, has a “litany” of offences on his criminal record, the local Magistrates Court has been told.

Bernard Cawley, 24, who appeared via videolink from Maghaberry Prison, admitted causing criminal damage to the van on July 25.

The court heard police received a 999 call regarding the incident, which took place in the Oaks Road area of the town.

Officers attended the scene and found the van had around 30 stripe marks to most of the panels, as well as damage to the windscreen.

They were told that Cawley had attacked the van with a shovel.

Defending, Cawley’s lawyer said the defendant had had a row with his brother, and that he had later attacked the van.

Deputy District Judge Copeland sentenced Cawley to two months in prison.
