When a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, confusion and fear reigns, but popular singer Justin McGurk has spoken about the help and support one local cancer charity provided during his wife’s battle with the illness.
Speaking to the TIMES, Justin said when his wife Roisin was diagnosed with breast cancer, they were fearful of the future, but both benefitted ‘immensely’ from the help and support of local charity, Charis.
Justin said: “After Roisin’s Cancer diagnosis there was a period of real fear and uncertainty about the future. When we were introduced to Charis Integrated Cancer Care, we benefited immensely from the services they offered. Charis provided us with holistic therapies such as Reflexology & Massage, counselling and dietary advice. One client summed it up by saying ‘After finding Charis, cancer no longer dominated my thoughts.’
Justin is hosting a special Valentine’s night Dine and Dance event in the Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown in aid of Charis.
He continued: “We honestly feel that we could never repay Charis for their help and support through a very tough period. I have organised fundraising events for Charis before and it is through these events that awareness is raised. Charis receive no Government funding and depend fully on the public’s generosity to function. After a long, cold and wet January we hope people will be ready for a great night out, in aid of a great cause. Unfortunately, every family will be affected by cancer at some stage, so it is vital that people come out and support this very worthy local charity.”
Tickets are priced at £35 and includes a four course set dinner followed by entry into the dance. Booking is essential and tickets are available from the Greenvale Hotel reception. Alternatively, entry to the dance is £10 on the door.
