A bevvy of beauties descended upon Cookstown as the local heat of the Open+Direct Miss Northern Ireland contest came to Sense Nightclub.
Girls from across the country competed for their place at the Miss Northern Ireland final in front of an astute judging panel which included current Miss Northern Ireland Meagan Green and Open+Direct representative, Melissa Marshall.
This year Cookstown will be backing Bronagh McKane, from Dungiven who was crowned “Miss Cookstown” and Rebekah Shirley from Ballymoney, who was chosen as “Miss Sense.” Both girls will now go forward to the grand final in Belfast’s Europa Hotel in May and stand a chance of winning the coveted title of ‘Open+Direct Miss Northern Ireland 2014.’
Competition organiser Alison Clarke said, “It was great to be back at Sense again this year. Cookstown never disappoints with the calibre of girls who enter, once again it was a fabulous night and a huge congratulations to the winning girls and a big thank you to all who came along!”
Guest judge, Melissa Marshall from Open + Direct added, “Well done to Rebekah and Bronagh they were worthy winners on the night, their combination of poise, beauty and personality really caught the judges’ eyes. Each Open+Direct judge at the heats will be looking for girls with the same combination of ambition, confidence and personality which make a true Miss Northern Ireland champion.”
Last year’s winner, Meagan Green added, “Congratulations to Bronagh and Rebekah! I have loved every minute since being crowned Miss Northern Ireland – it has been a whirlwind and I cannot thank everyone who has been part of the experience enough. From event organiser Alison Clarke to Downey’s for my fabulous Kia car and Open + Direct for insuring it! Not to mention my new wardrobe of clothes, beauty treatments and products.
“It’s been a great adventure and good luck to all the girls starting their Miss Northern Ireland journey!”
