Mid-Ulster Ulster Unionist MLA Sandra Overend has reminded constituents that the deadline for applications for pre-school places for admission in September 2014 is on 10th January 2014, and encouraged parents to be aware of the options they have available.
Mrs Overend, who is the Ulster Unionist Party Spokesperson for Children and Young People, commented, “I would like to remind parents of children born between 2nd July 2010 and 1st July 2011 that the deadline for applications for pre-school places for September 2014 is on 10th January 2014. As a parent myself, I know only too well that in the midst of this busy time of year when parents have so much to think about, these things can be overlooked, but I would encourage them to consider the options that they have available.
“The right pre-school environment is so important for every child, and can significantly aid their development in a number of areas. Since this is a decision that can make a positive impact on their children’s future, it is imperative that parents engage with their local pre-school providers and make informed choices.
“There is more information available on the application process on the websites of both the Southern Education and Library Board (Cookstown and Dungannon area) http://www.selb.org/pupilparent/webpages/preschool1.htm and North Eastern Education and Library Board (Magherafelt area) http://www.neelb.org.uk/parents/enrolment-transfer/ or by contacting them directly on 028 9056 6981 (SELB) or 028 2566 2197 (NEELB).”
