A MOTORIST detected speeding in Desertmartin village was fined £90 and banned from driving for six months at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.

Anthony Gerald Armour (43), engineer, of Hillhead, Stewartstown, was said by a PPS lawyer to have been travelling at 44mph in a 30mph zone at Main Street on the evening of November 9 last year. A defence solicitor said the defendant was in the unfortunate position of having nine points on his licence.
