SDLP Torrent Councillor Malachy Quinn has been told by Roads Service that no more large scale work will be carried out on the Washingbay Road and resurfacing will be the next step to complete the work.
Cllr Quinn said “Since I was elected one of the major issues that has been brought up is the Washingbay Road, and I have kept in close contact with Roads Service in regards to the issue.
“I have been told that the work to drill pipes under the road has been successful and that more large scale work will not be necessary, bar a few traffic calming measures to connect pipes.
“This will be welcome news to residents who live on the road as well as road users who had to add miles onto their journey just to get in and out of Coalisland.”
Mr Quinn added: “The road has been left in a bad state, and if it’s not addressed soon it could lead to car damage.
“While no time frame has yet been agreed to when the resurfacing of the road will start, I will stay in close contact with those involved to ensure that they start the work as soon as possible.”
