A Pomeroy woman whose daughter was born weighing 1lb 14oz has helped raise over £4000 which will go towards premature and sick baby charity TinyLife.

Donna Teague and her husband Eamon along with family and friends including those from Hayden’s bar in Pomeroy organised a vintage tractor run, raising a total of £4375 for the charity which supported her just after the birth of Maisie.

Donna’s baby was born by Caesarian at 30 weeks after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

“It was a normal pregnancy up until early December when I started getting swelling.

“I kept drinking water but I found out I was retaining everything. I went to see the consultant and he sent me straight to Enniskillen and they told me my baby would have to be delivered, so I was transferred to Derry,” explained Donna. “I didn’t get to spend time with her.”

Maisie had a blood transfusion but made remarkable progress.

Maisie is now six months old and according to her mum, she’s a ‘little fighter.’

“She’s 100 per cent perfect - as good as gold,” said Donna.

Donna left hospital on Christmas Eve and Maisie left eight weeks later on February 13 weighing 4lbs 3oz.

Donna said she has received so much support from TinyLife which has been a lifeline throughout the traumatic first few months.

“They are always there even just to ring for help,” she added.

“Putting on a little vest was the most amazing thing,” Donna told the Times.
