Seventy-five secondary school students from the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council area will receive bursaries next Tuesday evening in the Square Box theatre in Ranfurly House.
The bursaries are an acknowledgement of the investment which the students have made in improving their language skills during the summer.
By attending dedicated courses in the Gaeltacht, students can improve their own examination prospects, become acquainted with matters of wider cultural significance and meet with a range of young people from differing backgrounds in an environment where the language is the
cement that forms a bond for the whole experience.
The Council’s Gaeltacht Bursary Scheme was launched during Gaelfest/Seachtain na Gaeilge last year and has seen a fifty per cent increase in applicant numbers.
Students will receive their bursaries on Tuesday evening, 15 October in the Square Box theatre, Ranfurly House at 7.30pm.
Queries about bursaries should be directed to Séamus Mac Giolla Phádraig, the Council’s irish Language Development Officer. Call 87720300, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
