SDLP Torrent Councillor Malachy Quinn has been pressing Roads Service for an update regarding when on-going work on the Washingbay Road in Coalisland will be completed.

Speaking on the work Cllr Quinn said, “Of the many issues raised to our Coalisland SDLP team over the last number of weeks, the state of the Washingbay Road has been one of the major talking points. The state of the road is unacceptable for users and last week I spoke to Roads Service to get some answers.”

Cllr Quinn continued, “I’ve been told that there is more work still to be done on the road and while Roads Service is still negotiating with NI Water about when that work will commence they do expect it to be done within the month, and that should restore the road back to its original state. It is then hoped that any further work that NI Water need to undertake on sewers in the area can be completed without breaking up the surface of the road”

“I will continue to keep in touch with Roads Service and monitor the situation because it is a major headache for local road users as well as the residents in the area to have the road in this state. It is unacceptable that work like this should cause problems for any longer than absolutely necessary.”
