TWO people were convicted at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Monday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Caroline McBride (50) of Ardnaskea Drive, Coalisland claimed Income Support and Incapacity Benefit totalling £5,159 while failing to declare employment. She was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £52.
Kieran McKernan (40) of Shanroy Park, Pomeroy claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Rates Relief totalling £12,048 while failing to declare capital. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 month and ordered to pay court costs of £46.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
