A FAMILY of long-eared owls sitting perched on a branch; a kingfisher caught with a royal treat in its beak - these are some of the stunning images along the Coalisland Canal caught by a local naturalist.
Taken over the past few years, the photographs are now available on a DVD launched by Coalisland man Plunkett Scullion. All proceeds from the sale will go to Cancer Research.
Many of the pictures were snapped after hours of patient waiting and the construction of elaborate hides, giving an intimate glimpse of the rich diversity of wildlife inhabiting the canal.
The DVD also contains historic film and pictures of Coalisland dating back to the 1980s.
Plunkett, who suffers from cancer, said he is hoping to raise £1,000 for cancer charities.
“The pictures and the film were sitting about my house, and I thought they might be of interest to people”, he said.
“They contain wildlife pics from along the canal, and also historic pics of Coalisland dating back to the 1980s, including footage of the mill being knocked down, and events at Edendork Hall.”
