An assembly member for south Tyrone has warned the public to be vigilant against card skimming.

“Very recently there have been a number of card skimming incidents which have been reported across Fermanagh and South Tyrone,” said UUP MLA Rosemary Barton.

“I would like to take this opportunity to make people aware of this crime and how easily they can fall victim to it. Criminals will insert a small camera and microchip into the ATM machine which will read and store any PIN number and card details that are entered.

“It is therefore important that people be very alert when using ATM machines anywhere. If you notice something different or out of place on a machine... contact the corresponding bank and the police immediately.”
