It was a night of high drama as Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew bowed out to Tom Elliott of the UUP, who was elected the new MP for Fermanagh-South Tyrone.

In the end, 530 votes separated the pair, with Elliott emerging the victor shortly before 5am this morning, surrounded by wellwishers including his party leader Mike Nesbitt, as well as Dungannon DUP councillors Frances Burton and Kim Ashton.
