Dungannon Swifts progressed to the last 16 of the Irish Cup after ending Warrenpoint Town’s hopes.

The Tyrone side had the tie won in the first half after taking a 3-0 lead.

After a lacklustre opening period, Alan Teggart fired them in front when Kris Lowe’s pass was touched into his path.

It was 2-0 when Jamie Glackin’s cross was converted at close range by Andrew Mitchell.

Dungannon made it 3-0 in the 40th minute.

Conor Mullen headed home after meeting a cross from Ryan Harpur.

Warrenpoint gave themselves a glimmer of hope by pulling one back on the hour, Mark Hughes scoring after being teed up by Mark Clarke.

Back came the Swifts, with Mitchell heading home a cross from Jarlath O’Rourke.

Martin Murray pulled it back to 4-2 with four minutes remaining.

Sub Johnny McMurray further reduced the arrears in stoppage time, but the Swifts held on.
