A last gasp winner sparked 40th birthday celebrations for manager Darren Murphy as a new kid on the block’s goal gave Dungannon Swifts a marvellous 2-1 victory over Coleraine at The Showgrounds on Friday night.

It was dream debut for Mullen was the hero, coming off the bench to score with his first touch to win the game.

The visitors grabbed the opening goal on 27 minutes when Grant Hutchinson weaved his way down the left before picking Andrew Mitchell out with a great ball, and the big striker head home from close range.

Oran Kearney’s men were dominating possession turning that into genuine goal scoring opportunities was proving more difficult though as the rain lashed down.

The hosts finally drew level with 11 minutes to go with the assist coming from the unlikely source of Michael Doherty. His long clearance fell to Gary Browne who raced clear to score.

Their joy was shortlived, however, as substitute Mullen poked home from close range to secure all three points.
