Golf: Ethel Liggett is welcomed as the new Aughnacloy lady captain

The Ladies of Aughnacloy Golf Club held their AGM, with the outgoing captain Belle Beattie giving her report, which summarised her most enjoyable year in office.

Other reports were read by the Secretary Val Williamson, the Treasurer Bertha Finlay, and Competition Secretary Wendy Taggart. Belle’s last official duty was to present the Killaney cup, (awarded to the best handicap reduction in the high category) to the worthy receiptant, Phyllis O’Hanlon. Belle thanks the Ladies committee for all their work and support during her year in office.

She then welcomed the captain for 2015, Ethel Liggett, and wished her a good year ahead. Ethel thanked Belle in her introductory speech and wished the ladies a good golfing year ahead. She introduced her vice-captain as Jane-Marie Treanor.

The committee is Lady Captain, Vice Captain, Past Captain plus Val Williamson, Bertha Finlay, Wendy Taggart, Harriet Robinson, Margaret Murphy, and Libby Lamont.

Ladies day at Aughnacloy Golf Club is Wednesday, with club and qualifying competitions taking place, startsing on March 18 with a 9 hole bring and win competition. We welcome new members. Any ladies interested in playing golf can get information by contacting 8555 7050

Captains’ Drive In is on Friday 27th at 5.30pm, Captain Peter Kilpatrick and Lady Captain Ethel Liggett hoping for a good turnout to start the golfing year.
