Golf: Jayne leads Dungannon team to fine par round

A most enjoyable Fun Team Golf competition was enjoyed by quite a number of the lady members of Dungannon Golf Club on Tuesday.

And that was certainly reflected in scoring which was of the highest standard, the winning trio returning nine pars over the nine holes.

The winners with 33 points were Jayne Henry,Sarah Rafferty and Alexis Davidson.

Runners-up with 32.4 points were Karen Hetherington, Carole Burnside, Grainne Smith and Deirdre MacGowan.

The Tyrone & Fermanagh Seniors league competition got under way at Newtownstewart Golf Club on Monday when Roisin Kelly and her team played well to take second place and start the defence of this title which they won convincingly last season.

Easter Tuesday’s competition will be over 13 holes, timesheet in locker room. Tuesday 5th April will see the first 18 hole competition as the Ladies play for the Dolly Moore Cup.

The Captain’s Drive-In is on Friday 8th at 6pm, when it is hoped for a good turnout.

Getting into Golf is each Thursday for eight weeks, starting 7th, £5 per week for a lesson with the club pro, Chris Jelly. Equipment will be supplied for what is an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful game, first sessions at 10am and next ones at 6.30pm.

Men’s News

The McCaw Cup, sponsored by T.O. Rollins, was won by Tim Cardwell with 46 points on better back nine from Marc McCausland, Sean C Mallon third on 43, the gross won by Conor McCaughey, 68.

Section winners were: 0-10 Philip Rea 42pts, 11-17 Jim McCourt 42 and 18plus Patrick Fitzgerald 41.
