Fine weather greeted the Dungannon ladies who competed in the Easter Tuesday competition which was won by Sarah Rafferty.
Played in memory of a former Lady Captain, the Dolly Moore Cup is a popular stableford competition and was the first 18 holes event of the ladies season, twos achieved at the ninth hole by Ann Shields and Hazel Annesley.
The very convincing winner was Karen Hetherington, the lady captain off a 7 handicap, with 36 points - runner-up being Ann Smith with 31.
Congratulations to club’s Minor Cup ladies who , due to Dungannon’s course closure, switched venues and played Whitehead away on Sunday last, winning all five matches. Thanks go to Pat Hughes, who not only took over organising the last minute arrangements in the absence of team captain Deirdre O’Rourke, but also stepped in to a void in the team and won her match.
Best wishes are extended for the return fixture to be played in Dungannon.
As we go to press, the ladies of the Challenge Cup team were preparing for a trip to Fortwilliam and the Revive FBBB team were getting ready for their upcoming fixtures on at Rossmore (two couples) and Dungannon (three couples).
Men’s captain Denver Smith and lady captain Karen Hetherington were also looking forward to the annual Captains’ Drive-In evening and the ladies branch wish them both well for their year in office.
It was with much excitement that members greeted the Ladies Into Golf programme and they welcome all interested participants and eagerly look forward to introducing them all to the wonderful game of golf.
