GOLF: Young Jamie beats all-comers at Dungannon

Some 180 people took part in the Open stableford competition at Dungannon, with 16 year old Jamie McCaul not only giving the oldies a run for their money - but coming out on top!

Jamie gave a thoroughly good all-round performance to record 43 priceless points and get into the middle spot on the rostrum by a single point ahead of Neil Rea, with Harry McBride a point further back.

Wednesday 29th July brought members and visitors out to play for the weekly medal and seniors open.

And way out in front of the rest in the Seniors Open was Peter Mallon who won by the handsome margin of five points, Gerard Loughran taking the second place honours.

Well done to Ivan Brown who won visitors prize with 36 points and there were three twos.

The Wednesday Medal was won by a single point, Sean McGirr getting home ahead of Philip O’Neill and the consistent Peter McGrath.

And, on a day when the putters were hot and the smooth greens proved very receptive to them, there were thirteen twos recorded.
