Scramble competition at Moyola Park

A SHOTGUN Scramble heralded the end of official weekly competitions at Moyola Park Golf Club in Castledawson.

There was good interest here, the result being – 1st, R .Evans (0), D.McCusker (0), D. McFlynn (9) and K. Beatty (12), 54.9; 2nd, M. Lynch(7), M. O’Kane (8), T. O’Kane (10), and P. McLean (23),57.2; 3rd,P.Shaw (4),K.Carmichael (9),P. McMillen (11) and C. Smith (17),57.9. There were 14 optional twos winners, each getting 3 golf balls.And, next day brought a Sweep Stableford which concluded as – 1st,Thomas Doyle (13) 41pts (on better back nine ) ; 2nd,Damian McCusker (0) 41pts ; 3rd,David Simpson (6) 40pts; handicap category 0-9, Brendan Lagan (8) 39pts ; 10-17,Liam O’Neill (16) 39pts ; 18 plus,Brendan McKay (21) 36pts.On this occasion, 9 players win 4 golf balls apiece for their twos entry.

The ladies annual Autumn League has now got under way. The nine teams competing are ; A - B.Slowey (capt), M.Diamond, R.Otterson, I. McHugh, M. O’Neill,and M. Leadon; B – R.Harkin (capt), S. Scullion, M. O’Kane, M. Gates, N.Kirkpatrick,and A. Drumm; C – J.Boyle (capt), P.Johnston, S. McMeel,S.Coyle,U.Hegarty, and P.Smith;D – M. Shaw (capt), K. McKenna, L. Averill, A. O’Neill, A. Moore, and M. Murphy; E – I. Henry(capt), M. Dempsey, M. Henry, C. Boyle, B. O’Neill, and M. Graham; F – M. Higgins (capt), E. McKeague, G. Kelly, D.Logue, C.Collier, and A. Kelly; G – T. McKeever (capt), T. O’Kane, J. Martin, R. McGrogan, M. McGoldrick and G. McLean; H – C. McKenna (capt), M. McSwiggaan, M. Duncan, A. Regan, F.walls,and T.O’Hagan; I – M. Wilson (capt), B. Bradley, P. Hutchinson, L. Kelly, M. Ferguson and M. Kyne.

Next round of the annual Coast & Country Alliance League will be played at Roe Park on Monday, 15th October.This years Winter League will run from 20th October until 10th February, 2013.

Rules format is same as last year with entry fee being £25, which includes dinner at the presentation on February 22. Fees must be paid in bar before Sunday, October 14.

There will be teams of eight persons, pick your own team maybe of two fourball etc.If you cannot get a full team,enter your name/s and you will be allocated one.Place all names in the convenors box beside the computer

And,a fundraising charity quiz is to be held in the clubhouse at Halloween.In support of the Lady Captains chosen charity, “Smile Train”, fuller details nearer the time.

A Nine Hole Competition is being held on Thursdays.With the exception of any open events that may take place on this day, entry will be £2 per card, available from the pro shop.

All cards must be returned to the bar. Saturday and Sunday brings Sweep Stablefords while Monday continues the Seniors (over 50s) Open Stablefords.

The ladies play in their annual Autumn League. The Club Lotto jackpot has been won by Mary Martin who receives £1,350.Next draw is Sunday 14th October when the jackpot will be £500.
