The semi-finals of the Frank Hughes Bookmakers East Tyrone League Cup sees Pot Black hosting McKees B, while McVeighs A will entertain Max A - Gervins A and Mitchells B the big losers on last night of group stages action.

The Cookstown men seemed to have it all to do at the halfway stage of the league phase, but they won their last two matches 4-0 to surprisingly top Section One.

Last week’s demolition job on the men from south Armagh put the Burn Road men’s fate back in their own hands and they consolidated their last four spot with another superb win in Gortgonis in a match played on Wednesday.

The pressure was thus firmly on the Keady men who had to travel to Coalisland to face the table-toppers in a shoot-out for the other semi-final slot, but they bounced back in really stunning style and walloped Gervins A 4-0.

Inconsistent Mitchells B did eveything that was asked of them on the last night, carding a 4-0 win at home to Gervins B - but they still fell agonisingly short of making the last four - losing out on that place to McKees B only on frames difference.

That meant that McKees needed something from the visit of leaders McVeighs A and they can certainly thank Oliver O’Neill for a cool finish as he won the priceless league point by defeating Danny McVeigh in a high-pressure finish to a deciding frame with tenacious Danny McVeigh.
